These programs help youth create aspirations and goals for the future, providing opportunities for career exploration and educational enhancement. Programs in this core program area enable youth to become proficient in basic educational disciplines, as well as apply learning to everyday situations and embrace technology to achieve success in a career.
A comprehensive homework help and tutoring program that encourages Club members at every age to become self-directed learners. POWER HOUR is designed to raise academic proficiency. The first hour of Club time is dedicated to homework. Staff and trained volunteers assist Club members with homework.
Junior Staff is a program that helps Club members to explore a career in youth or human services, particularly Boys & Girls Club work. Young people prepare for future roles as human service professionals by participating in career development activities, discovering the importance of community service, building customer service skills and completing a Club apprenticeship.
Created with the Charles Schwab Foundation, this financial literacy program was designed specifically to help teens expand their knowledge of money management and learn the skills that lead to financial independence and well-being. Money Matters promotes financial responsibility and independence. Participants learn how to manage a checking account, create a budget, save and invest, start small businesses and pay for college.
CareerLaunch™ is a career exploration and mentoring program for teens. This fun and exciting program prepares teens for the world of careers and work. Through Career Launch, teens embark on a journey to explore possible vocations, make sound educational decisions and find success in the world of work.
Project Learn reinforces the academic enrichment and school engagement of young people during the time they spend at the Club.
